Fr Thomas Kurunthanam took charge as Parish Priest of St Peter Chanel and St Joseph the Worker on 1 January 2012. He was born in Kerala, India. Thomas was trained in Papal Seminary, Pune India, studied in Jnana-deepa Vidhyapeeth, and was ordained on 26 December 1984, for Kothamangalam diocese on the Malabar coast of India. He has a Bachelor of Philosophy and a Bachelor of Theology. After ministering in various parishes in Kerala, he accepted an invitation in 1992 by Cardinal Clancy to the Archdiocese of Sydney. Thomas has been Parish Priest of Bankstown and Cronulla before coming to Berala. He has also ministered as Assistant Priest in Bass Hill, Liverpool, and Bankstown Parishes.
Two of his three sisters are nuns. His three brothers and youngest sister are married with children.
